Wordle Tips & Tricks
Master strategies to solve daily wordle puzzles in under 4 guesses
1. Choose the Perfect Starting Word
The first guess sets the pace of the game. A great starting word should eliminate at least three vowels and contain common consonants. Some math-backed options include:
- ADIEU: Knocks out four vowels (A, I, E, U) in a single turn.
- AROSE: Contains three vowels and two of the most common consonants (R, S).
- SOARE: Highly rated by puzzle algorithms due to letter frequency positions.
- AUDIO: Eliminates four vowels immediately.
2. Don't Waste Yellow/Green Hints Too Early
If you get a yellow or green hint on guess 1, it's tempting to use those letters in guess 2. However, if you have very little information, try a completely different word containing entirely fresh letters (e.g. if your first guess was SOARE, try UNITY or GLYPH second to isolate other combinations).
3. Look for Letter Clumping and Duplicates
Remember that letters can appear twice in the secret word! Common duplicates include EE (e.g. FLEET, GREET), OO (e.g. STOOL, FLOOD), and double consonants like SS or LL. Also, look out for common vowel blends like EA, OU, and AI.
